I went on a date. We saw a children's orchestra perform The Rite of Spring.

It's been a crazy week and a bit: Phillip Glass's Orphee Friday before last, figure drawing on Wednesday, Russian Film Symposium on Friday, Pittsburgh Fringe festival on Saturday, followed by a show by my friends Robin Vote and The Working Poor. I played a show! It was in somebody's side yard in Garfield and halfway through a neighbor lady came up to complain so everybody had to turn down, but it still went pretty well. Went to see the Swans with Heidi. They played the same chord for two and a half hours. It was fantastic.

Went to day one of Mike Tamburo's Fantastic Voyagers festival. That my favourite performer was the guy who played his guitar with a mallet will surprise no one. Walked home from Morningside. Am debating whether I want to go to day two and walk home from Morningside again.

I went to see Diamanda Galas at the New Hazlett Theatre on the North Side. Pittsburgh seems to have been her only American date on the current tour (her next date is in Slovenia). Friday before last I attended a charming party at vermilionskies's with robots_suck. I am too lazy to type out the lj names of everyone in attendance. We talked about records and slash and science fiction, and various guests recounted their run-ins with the KKK. I am very glad to have grown up in the "inner city."

Thursday robots_suck and I went to Cleaveland to see Morrissey. I never go to big concerts (I'm too used to the intimacy of being one of twelve people who bothered to show up) so it took me a little while to loosen up and enjoy myself.
